Lorenzo Cantoni

Full Professor at USI – Università della Svizzera italiana (University of Italian Switzerland)

Lorenzo Cantoni has a degree in Philosophy and a PhD in education.

He is a full professor at USI – Università della Svizzera italiana (Lugano, Switzerland), Faculty of Communication Sciences, where he is director of the Institute of Digital Technologies for Communication.

His field of research is at the junction between communication, education and new media: from computer-mediated communication to usability, from e-learning to eTourism and digital Fashion, from ICT4D to eGovernment.

He is responsible for the UNESCO chair in ICT to develop and promote sustainable tourism in World Heritage Sites, established at USI since 2013.

He is Vice Rector for Education and University Life of USI, Director of the Master’s Course in Digital Fashion Communication, created in collaboration with the Sorbonne University (Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne), and a member of the scientific committee of the Master’s Course in International Tourism.

He was Dean of the Faculty (2010-2014) and President of IFITT – International Federation for IT in Travel and Tourism (2014-January 2018).
